Batik Air has announced a new partnership with Chinese payment service provider YeePay.
Both the Malaysia-based Lion Air Group carrier and YeePay signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen connectivity between China and Malaysia through integrated digital payment and air ticket distribution solutions. YeePay will strengthen Batik Air’s digital payment capabilities and expand its presence across China’s travel distribution network.
The initiative is expected to enhance the overall booking experience for customers traveling between Malaysia and China. China has become a key tourism source markets for Malaysia. Along with the ongoing Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, both countries have mutual visa-free travel arrangements. The partnership will serve the growing Chinese inbound tourism market to Malaysia enabling the use of familiar digital payment options.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy highlighted the growth of inbound tourist market from China saying: “In the first half of 2025 alone, Malaysia welcomed more than 2.17 million visitors from China, representing a 35.6% year-on-year increase. With Visit Malaysia 2026 on the horizon and stronger bilateral connectivity through the mutual visa-free arrangement, we see tremendous opportunities to make travel even more accessible and seamless for Chinese travellers.”

Batik Air currently operates regularly scheduled flights from Kuala Lumpur to 10 destinations in Mainland China, including Shanghai and Guangzhou.
