China Southern will continue to expand its presence in the Middle East with the launch of a second route to Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the launch of its new route between Beijing and Riyadh, the Guangzhou-based carrier plans to launch another route from Shenzhen to Riyadh from June 3. With a twice-weekly schedule, the airline will use Airbus A330 aircraft on the route.

The new Shenzhen-Riyadh will follow two new routes to Riyadh that will be operated by China-based carriers starting next month. Shanghai-based China Eastern will launch its own three-time weekly service between Shanghai-Pudong and Riyadh from April 8. Then, China Southern will launch its twice-weekly flights between Beijing-Daxing and Riyadh on April 16.

Currently, Saudi Arabia's national airline Saudia offers services on four routes between Saudi Arabia and China. The airline operates flights from Guangzho to Jeddah and Riyadh, along with recently opened routes from Beijing-Daxing to the two cities.
