Summary

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is raising the fuel surcharge for flight bookings to Level 19 for the period between April 16 and 30.

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is raising the fuel surcharge for flight bookings to Level 19 for the period between April 16 and 30.

In an advisory posted on April 13, the CAB advised the raising of the fuel surcharge from the current Level 8 to Level 19 with the interim implementation of the 15-day cycle for passenger and cargo surcharge.

With the change, the fuel charges will go up from PHP253 to PHP787, to around PHP 627 to PHP1,824 for domestic flights, and from PHP835.06 to PHP6,208.98, to PHP2,070.77-PHP15,397.15 for international flights – depending on distance.

The CAB stated the applicable exchange rate for the 15-day period is USD $1=PHP 59.95.

“This interim measure shall be in effect until the current situation stabilizes, or as may be revised or revoked accordingly.”

Previously, the CAB raised the fuel surcharge for the period of April 1-15 to from Level 4 to Level 8 in mid-March. The 15-day implementation period is a temporary measure to better respond to the ongoing fuel situation, temporarily suspending the application of Section 2 and 3 of Part II. General Provisions, and Timetable under CAB Resolution No. 25 (2022).
