Air India to deploy 787-9 on Delhi-Toronto route from August 1

Air India will deploy its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on its Delhi-Toronto service which will also enable the Indian flag carrier to skip the current fuel stop at Vienna on August 1.

As Air India introduces its 787-9 with its new cabin products on the Delhi-Toronto route, the airline will also increase its flights between the two cities from five weekly to daily. Services on the route were previously reduced during June and July due to the rise in fuel prices and geopolitical developments that affected the flight operating conditions.

Pending available airspaces, the switch to the non-stop Delhi-Toronto route will reduce the flying time between the two cities from 20 hours including the stop at Vienna to 17 hours. The return flight will continue operating non-stop, with a flight time of up to 16 hours.

In a statement, Air India Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Campbell Wilson said: “The introduction of our new Boeing 787-9 on the Delhi-Toronto route marks another important milestone, bringing a significantly enhanced travel experience to customers between India and Canada while extending our most premium offerings across North America.”

The deployment of the 787-9 on the route will introduce Air India’s Premium Economy product for those traveling between the two cities. The aircraft also features 30 private Business Class suites.
