Philippines lowers fuel surcharge by one level to Level 12

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) will lower the fuel surcharge for flight bookings in the Philippines to Level 12 for the last half of August, down from the current Level 13.

In an advisory by the CAB published on August 12, the fuel surcharge for the period between August 16 and 31 will be Level 12. During the period the surcharge for domestic flights will be between PHP 389 to PHP 1137, and from PHP 1284.40 to PHP 9550.13 for international flights departing from the Philippines. All surcharges depends on destination and distance.

The applicable exchange rate to USD $1 for the period will go down from PHP 61.65 to PHP 61.30.

After reaching the second highest level of Level 19 in late April. The CAB has since lowered the fuel surcharge during the following months down to Level 8 during the last half of July. It was then increased to Level 13 during the first half of August.

The 15-day implementation period is a temporary measure to better respond to the ongoing fuel situation due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East earlier this year, temporarily suspending the application of Section 2 and 3 of Part II.
