As Vietjet opened up ticket sales for its upcoming Ho Chi Minh City-Colombo, the Vietnam-based budget airline announced its new, first route to Sri Lanka will start on August 18.
Between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo, Vietjet will operate three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). The outbound flight will depart Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 1815H and arrive at Colombo at 2150H. The return flight will depart Colombo at 2300H before arriving back at Ho Chi Minh City at 0555H the following morning.
With the new route, Vietjet will launch the first direct air link between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Those traveling between the two countries currently have connecting options via Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.
Vietjet previously announced its plan to launch the flights to Colombo in early May. The airline stated passengers from Colombo will gain convenient connections via Vietjet’s network including cities in Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
