China Airlines will retrofit its Airbus A350s to feature a new layout and “state-of-the-art amenities.”

The Taiwan-based carrier has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Airbus for the retrofit project, which Airbus Services will oversee the installation of China Airlines' latest Premium Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class seats on its fleet of 15 Airbus A3500-900s. With a new premium travel experience, the retrofit will also include the installation of the latest IFE and full connectivity in the cabin.

According to China Airlines, the upgrades will enhance the airline's competitiveness through a more comfortable experience and high-quality service.

"We are honored to be selected by China Airlines to upgrade its A350 fleet. The airline’s existing layout had already been one of the most luxurious in the industry and we are  excited to support China Airlines to elevate this to yet another level," said Cristina Aguilar, Senior Vice President Customer Services.

The announcement comes after a separate cabin retrofit project was announced by THAI Airways with Airbus for its narrowbody A320s
