After raising the fuel surcharge to Level 19 in late April – the second highest level – the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) announced it will be lowered by one level to Level 18 during the first two weeks of May.

Effective during the 15-day period between May 1 and 15, the fuel surcharge for flight bookings sold will be between PHP 593 to PHP 1734 for domestic flights. The fuel surcharge will be PHP1,958.44 to PHP14,561.87 for international flights, depending on the distance.

It is a drop by one level from the current Level 19 effective during April 16-30. At Level 19, the fuel surcharge for domestic flights is PHP253 to PHP787, to around PHP 627. For international fights – depending on distance – the surcharge is PHP835.06 to PHP6,208.98, to PHP2,070.77-PHP15,397.15.

The applicable exchange rate for the period of May 1-15 will go up to PHP60.00 – an increase by PHP0.05 from the previous period (PHP59.95).

Previously, the CAB raised the fuel surcharge for the period of April 1-15 to from Level 4 to Level 8 in mid-March. The 15-day implementation period is a temporary measure to better respond to the ongoing fuel situation, temporarily suspending the application of Section 2 and 3 of Part II. General Provisions, and Timetable under CAB Resolution No. 25 (2022).
