From February 2, 2027, Air India will operate four weekly flights from Delhi to Osaka Kansai using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. According to Air India, the addition of Osaka will also enable bookings for open-jaw itineraries, allowing customers to fly to into Osaka before returning from Tokyo, or vice versa.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that more than 315,000 Indian visitors travelled to Japan last year (2025), a 35% increase from 2024 and nearly 80% above pre-pandemic levels.
