Air India to operate seasonal Mumbai-Toronto flights, increase capacity to Canada

Following the first Delhi-Toronto flight using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with its latest cabin products, Air India announced it will expand its services to Canada with a new seasonal Mumbai-Toronto service and increase capacity on the Delhi-Toronto route this winter (Northern Winter 2026/2027).

Between October 25 and March 26, 2027, Air India will operate its seasonal Mumbai-Toronto service with three weekly flights (Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday). Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with Air India’s upgraded cabin interiors will be used on the route. The 777 features 8 private First Class suites, 40 flat bed Business Class seats.

The outbound Mumbai-Toronto flight AI193 will depart at 0400H and arrive at Toronto at 1000H. The return flight AI192 will depart Toronto at 1230H before arriving back at Mumbai at 1410H the following day.

All 787-9 Operations on Delhi-Toronto route

Air India will deploy its Boeing 787-9 with its latest cabin products on all its Delhi-Toronto flights to start the next year (2027).

The 787-9 will be used on 7 of the 10 weekly Delhi-Toronto flights (the daily flights AI187/AI188) before year’s end. While the Boeing 777-300R will be used on the remaining 3 weekly flights (x3 weekly AI189/AI190), it will be replaced with the 787-9 on all flights on the route from January 2027 after more aircraft are delivered.

This upcoming winter season, Air India will operate a total of 20 weekly flights between India and Canada, x10 weekly Delhi-Toronto, x3 weekly Mumbai-Toronto, and x7 weekly Delhi-Vancouver. With the deployment of the 777s and 787s with the new cabin products, Air India will boost premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71% this winter. Overall capacity between India and Canada will increase by 4,400 seats each month.
