Malaysia Airlines to launch flights to Busan, South Korea

UPDATE (September 6, 2026): As part of an announcement by Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) on September 4, the flight schedule information for the return flight has been corrected. 

MH85 will depart Busan at 1055H and arrive back at Kuala Lumpur at 1655H.

Malaysia Airlines will expand its services to South Korea with the launch of direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and the southern city of Busan before year’s end.

From December 2, Malaysia Airlines will operate four weekly flights (Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday) from its hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Busan Gimhae Airport. The outbound flight MH84 will depart at 0145H and arrive later in the morning at 0920H. The return flight MH85 will depart Busan at 2010H before arriving back at Kuala Lumpur the following morning at 0210H.

Boeing 737-8 (737 MAX 8) aircraft will be used on the new route.

Currently without regularly scheduled flights, Malaysia Airlines will be the second airline to offer flights between Kuala Lumpur and Busan. Fellow Malaysia-based airline AirAsia X will resume its Kuala Lumpur-Busan route on October 23.

The new Kuala Lumpur-Busan route will add to Malaysia Airlines’ current services in South Korea, where it operates 11 weekly flights to Seoul Incheon.
