Qantas doubles Brisbane-Palau flights to twice-weekly

As a response to strong demand for travel to the western Pacific island nation of Palau, Qantas will double its flights between Brisbane and Palau to two weekly return flights during the peak winter season.

The double weekly Palau Paradise Express flights between Brisbane and Koror, Palau will be operated between December to the end of March 2027. Using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the outbound flights will depart every Wednesday and Saturday, followed by the return every Sunday and Thursday.

Qantas’ move to double its Brisbane-Palau flights follows the signing of a new agreement with Australia’s Federal Government to continue to the route. According to Qantas, 15,400 passengers have traveled on the route that was opened to be a new leisure market for Australians. Passenger traffic between Australia and Palau has quadrupled compared to pre-pandemic levels.

“Palau has been one of the standout destinations in our short-haul international network since 2024, and the extra service is a direct response to growing demand for these incredible islands,” said Qantas CEO International Cam Wallace. “Two services a week give Australians more choice about how long they spend in Palau. You can now fly out on a Wednesday, get four days on the reef and be home by Sunday.”

Palau Visitors Authority Director Kadoi Ruluked noted the impact of Qantas’ Palau flights on the island’s tourism industry.

“Since Qantas took over the Palau Paradise Express in 2024, Australian visitation to Palau during our peak period has grown 107 per cent year on year. This added seasonal frequency will build on that momentum by giving travellers the flexibility to enjoy a shorter Palau getaway for the first time.”
