South Korean budget carrier T'way Air to become Trinity Airways on September 10

South Korean budget airline T’way Air will officially operate under its new name Trinity Airways on September 10.

In an advisory on T’way Air’s website posted on August 31, Trinity Airways operations will start on September 10 while using the current TW flight code. However, the T’way Air website and mobile app will be updated to reflect the new name on that day.

While the location of the check-in counters currently used by T’way Air and soon for Trinity Airways will remain the same, the airline has advised it may be changed due to airport circumstances on the departure date.

T’way Air has advised that T’way Plus membership benefits will remain valid through the subscription periods, and T’way gift cards can be used within the validity period (up to 5 years) even after the name change.

The Sono Trinity Group acquired a 46% stake in T’way Air worth KRW 250 billion (~USD $180 million) in February 2025. After completing the required regulatory processes for the name change in May.

First launched in 2004 as Hansung Airlines, T'way Air was South Korea's first budget carrier. From Seoul’s two main hubs Gimpo and Incheon, T’way Air operates flights to over 40 destinations in South Korea, Asia, and recently added cities in Europe. According to planespotters.net, T’way Air’s (and soon to be Trinity Airways) fleet is comprised of nearly 50 aircraft including 2 widebody Boeing 777-300ERs and 11 Airbus A330s, along with 35 Boeing 737s (737-800s and the 737-8s).

After its relaunch as Trinity Airways, the airline is expecting deliveries of around 6 Airbus A330-900 (A330neo) aircraft.
