Xiamen Air expands Malaysia network with new Xiamen-Kota Kinabalu route

Xiamen Air will expand its services to Malaysia with a new route connecting Xiamen and Kota Kinabalu with four-times weekly flights starting September 23.


Departing every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as MF8641, the outbound flight will depart Xiamen Gaoqi Airport at 0845H before arriving at Kota Kinabalu at 1205H. The return flight MF8642 will depart Kota Kinabalu at 1305H and arrive back at Xiamen at 1640H. Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be used on the +3 hour flights each direction.


The new Xiamen-Kota Kinabalu route will be Xiamen Air’s second route to Kota Kinabalu, and the airline’s eighth route between Mainland China and Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur (Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Quanzhou, and Xiamen), Penang (Xiamen), and Kota Kinabalu (Fuzhou).


Xiamen will also be the eight Mainland Chinese city with a direct air link to Kota Kinabalu. Flights are currently offered from Kota Kinabalu to Chongqing (Chongqing Airlines), Beijing Daxing (AirAsia), Shanghai Pudong (Shanghai Airlines, Spring Airlines, and AirAsia), Hangzhou (AirAsia), Fuzhou (Xiamen Air), Guangzhou (AirAsia and China Southern), and Shenzhen (AirAsia).
