Cathay Pacific is expanding codeshare connections to Latin America via Madrid with Spanish airline Iberia. The Hong Kong-based airline will also add more flights on its Hong Kong-Madrid route.
The new codeshare connections covers Iberia-operated flights from Madrid to Fortaleza and Recife in Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Argentina and the Dominican Republic are the newest additions to Cathay’s network.
To support the new codeshare flights, Cathay Pacific will increase its flight frequencies on the Hong Kong-Madrid route with an additional thrice-weekly flights from October 25. The additional flights which will operate every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday will provide customers the option of late-night departures from Europe. Combined with the current four-times weekly schedule, Cathay will operate daily flights on the route.

Cathay Pacific currently serves six destinations across four countries in Latin America through codeshare partnerships via hubs in Europe, North America, and Oceania. The destinations are the following: Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil; Mexico City and Guadalajara in Mexico; Lima, Peru; and Santiago, Chile.
Cathay Pacific Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said: “We are delighted to welcome these new destinations in Latin America to our codeshare network. Furthermore, by increasing our Madrid service to daily, we are reinforcing our position as the only airline offering non-stop connectivity between Hong Kong and Spain. These enhancements underscore our commitment to strengthening connectivity between Asia and markets around the world, offering passengers greater choice and convenience, and enhancing Hong Kong’s status as one of the world’s leading international aviation hubs.”
Since it was launched in 2016, Cathay Pacific stated the route has become an important link between Asia and Spain for both business and leisure travelers. The airline also operates a seasonal summer service to Barcelona.
