ATR announced new order for 40 ATR 72-600 aircraft from Goa, India-based regional airline FLY91 (Just Udo Aviation Private Limited). The new aircraft order is ATR’s largest firm order in over a decade, and the largest ever by a regional airline.

Worth around USD $1 billion, the new order will help FLY91 grow its fleet from six aircraft to 60 during the next five years. Scheduled to be delivered from 2027 through 2032, the ATR 72-600 will support growth between India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to make air travel accessible to more.

“The order reflects both the airline’s confidence in the country’s growth potential and ATR’s conviction that regional aviation will play a central role in connecting India’s next generation of travellers.”

According to ATR’s Mobility Monitor, there are around 4.6 billion intercity journeys within India annually. Only 3% are currently done through air travel. ATR noted the vast opportunity in India for regional aviation, which the company said could support up to 35 million additional passengers as regional connectivity continues to expand.

Manoj Chacko, FLY91’s Founder, Managing Director & CEO said: “We have grown deliberately and consistently since our inception and this 40-aircraft order is the catalyst for our next phase of expansion. The ATR 72-600 offers the ideal operating economics for our network and our deepened partnership with ATR will be central to powering India’s regional aviation revolution”.

“We are incredibly proud that FLY91 has chosen ATR to support this new phase of its development,” said Nathalle Tarnaud Laude, ATR’s Chief Executive Officer. “This expansion aligns closely with the Indian Government’s ambition to strengthen regional connectivity through UDAN, bringing affordable and reliable air transport to underserved communities. The ATR 72-600 combines unmatched economics, efficiency and reliability, enabling airlines to offer affordable fares while connecting millions of passengers to opportunities across India.”

Since the launch of its operations in 2024, FLY21 is focused on enhancing air connectivity across India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. It currently operates over 280 weekly flights to 13 destinations including Pune, Sindhudurg, Solapur and Jalgaon in Maharashtra; Agatti in the Lakshadweep Islands; Hubballi in Karnataka; Tirupati, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh; along with other business and leisure destinations namely Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi and Hyderabad.

With the new aircraft order, ATR’s 2026 order intake goes up to 54. It surpassed the company’s total net orders for 2025.
