Philippine Airlines to increase year-end flights to Japan, Australia

Philippine Airlines will increase its flights to Japan and Australia for the year end holiday period. 

The additional flights will start in late October starting with an increase from 14 weekly to 21 weekly flights between Manila and Tokyo Narita effective October 25 to March 27, 2027. During the same period, the airline will also increase its flights on the Manila-Osaka Kansai route from 14 to 21 weekly flights.

Services on the seasonal Manila-Sapporo New Chitose route will be increased from three to five-times weekly between November 24 and February 27, 2027.

According to Philippine Airlines, its operations to Japan will go up to 87 weekly flights during the winter season. The Philippine flag carrier operates flights from Manila to the two Tokyo area hubs Haneda and Narita, Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo New Chitose. In addition the airline operates flights from Cebu to Narita and Osaka.

The expanded schedule includes early morning departures from Manila and evening departures from both Narita and Osaka which will provide customers more time to enjoy their destination while providing greater flexibility and convenience.

"The winter season is one of the most popular times of the year for Filipinos visiting Japan, while it is also a peak period for Japanese travelers seeking the Philippines' tropical destinations," said Richard Nuttall, President of Philippine Airlines. "By adding more flights, we are giving our customers greater flexibility during these high-demand months while strengthening tourism, business and cultural exchanges between our two countries. The additional services also provide more cargo capacity to support growing trade between the Philippines and Japan."

At the same time, Philippine Airlines will also operate additional flights on its routes from Manila to Melbourne and Perth. Selected services to Sydney and Brisbane will see upgrades to larger aircraft which will provide more capacity.

The expanded services to Australia will support the strong demand from Filipino communities in Australia, visitors, and those visiting friends and relatives. It also complements the airline’s frequent flier partnership with Qantas.
