The Qantas Group is extending its network adjustments amid the conflict in the Middle East and elevated fuel prices during the Northern Summer (Southern Winter) season.
“Given fuel prices remain significantly elevated, the Group has extended previously announced schedule changes across its international and domestic network between July and September.”
While facing the impacts of the ongoing conflict and high fuel costs, Qantas is also responding to strong travel demand for travel between Australia and Europe. The airline will continue to redeploy some aircraft to operate more flights between the two continents. The airline stated the move provides Qantas customers already booked to travel on partner airlines an alternative option should they wish to change their plans.
The airline’s additional flights between Perth and Rome will be extended another three months – until the end of October. Flights to Paris will be reduced to thrice-weekly as planned in August, operating from Sydney through Singapore. The changes will provide an additional 2,000 seats between Australia and Europe each week.
Meanwhile, Qantas will temporarily suspend services on the Sydney-Bengaluru route fro August before its resumption at the end of October. Both Qantas and Jetstar have already reduced flights between Australia and New Zealand.
“Together these changes reduce previously planned Group International capacity by 2 percentage points for 1Q27.”
Within Australia, Qantas is extending the previously announced capacity reductions of 5 percentage points until the end of September. This affects Qantas and Jetstar flights on major capital city routes.
