Saudia takes delivery of first A321XLR

The national airline of Saudi Arabia has taken delivery of the first of 15 A321XLRs ordered with the registration of HZ-ASBA. Featuring a “1st A321XLR in Middle East and Africa” sticker, the A321XLR arrived in Jeddah on May 24.


Onboard, the new A321XLR also is the first aircraft to feature core elements of Saudia’s new onboard offering called “The New Saudia Experience.” The cabin features 144 seats in a two class configuration with 24 Business Class suites designed for privacy and comfort, and 120 Guest Class (Economy) seat. The seats will have a 13-inch personal entertainment screen and charging ports. The aircraft will also be equipped with high-speed inflight Wi-Fi.


“The delivery of the A321XLR reflects the momentum of Saudia’s ongoing transformation,” said His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group. “As we continue to grow our fleet, our focus is not only on adding capacity, but on investing in aircraft, products, and capabilities that strengthen Saudia’s competitiveness and support the Kingdom’s aviation ambitions. The New Saudia Experience reflects this direction, bringing together enhanced onboard products, service quality, and operational efficiency to deliver a more distinctive journey for our guests.”


Saudia is scheduled to at 15 A321XLR aircraft to its fleet by 2027, as part of its wider fleet growth program. Saudia stated the aircraft will support network growth across key travel segments, including tourism, business, major events, and pilgrim travel.


According to planespotters.net, of the 149 aircraft on Saudia’s fleet the airline operates 27 A321s comprised of older A321-200s and newer A321neos.
