Singapore Airlines (SIA) has become the latest airline to announce it will install Starlink onboard its aircraft, with the introduction of the first aircraft equipped to provide the high-speed, low-latency internet service from the first quarter of 2027.
According to the Singapore flag carrier, Starlink will be installed onboard its Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (LH and ULR), and A380 aircraft. All passengers board the Starlink-equipped aircraft – those in Suites, Business Class, PPS Club members, as well as KrisFlyer members travelling in Premium Economy Class and Economy Class, will continue to enjoy SIA’s unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi experience on board Starlink-enabled aircraft.
In a statement, Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Customer Experience Yeoh Phee Teik said: “Fast, seamless connectivity is, today, an essential part of the travel experience. Singapore Airlines already offers the world’s most comprehensive complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi across our entire fleet. Starlink will take this to the next level by delivering next-generation high-speed connectivity, enabling customers to stay entertained, connected, and productive throughout their journey, with a smoother and seamless experience from take-off to landing.”
“We are excited to bring Starlink on board Singapore Airlines. Customers and crew will soon experience seamless, low-latency connectivity as they travel,” added Jason Fritch, SpaceX’s Vice president of Starlink Enterprise Sales. “Whether flying long-haul or ultra-long-haul distances, Starlink is redefining what is possible for leisure and business travellers alike – making every flight more enjoyable and infinitely more connected.”
With more than 10,000 satellites launched to low Earth orbit, Starlink can deliver multi-gigabit connectivity to aircraft using its Aero Terminal which can support up to 1Gbps per antenna. It enables passengers to enjoy high-speed internet from take-off to landing.
Singapore Airlines joins other major Asia/Middle East-based airlines such as Emirates, Gulf Air, Korean Air, ZIPAIR Tokyo, and Qatar Airways to partner with Starlink. Among the mentioned airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and ZIPAIR Tokyo have Starlink-equipped aircraft currently in operation.
