Thai AirAsia announced an increase of its domestic flight frequencies starting October 1 from its two Bangkok area hubs, with domestic services from Suvarnabhumi Airport to three cities: Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai. Nine new cross-regional routes will also be introduced.
The Thailand-based subsidiary of AirAsia stated it will operate flights to 22 domestic destinations from Don Mueang International Airport from October 1. From Don Mueang, daily flights will be increased to a maximum of 17 to Chiang Mai, 15 to Phuket, and 9 to Hat Yai. Six daily flights each will be operated to the following cities: Khon Kaen, Udon Thai, Krabi, and Chiang Rai. Up to five daily flights will be operated to Ubon Ratchathani and several other routes.
At Suvarnabumi Airport, six daily flights will be operated to Chiang Mai, five to Phuket, and two to Krabi.
In addition to the service increases from Bangkok, Thai AirAsia will also launch flights from Phuket to destinations in Northeast Thailand. From October 25, the airline will operate three weekly flights between Phuket and Khon Kaen, and up to four weekly flights between Phuket and Udon Thani.
In a statement, Thai AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Phairat Pornpathananangoon said while the airline implemented schedule adjustments to the rise in aviation fuel prices and temporary fluctuations in travel demand, the outlook for 4Q 2026 remains highly positive. The expansion of the route network and flight frequencies will accommodate the anticipated surge in demand.
Between October and December of this year, Thai AirAsia will operate up to 135 flights a day. It represents a 50% increase compared to the average peak of 88 flight daily during the third quarter of the year.
