Vietjet will expand its international network with its first route to Sri Lanka – between Ho Chi Minh City and Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo – starting this August.
Announced during the Vietnam – Sri Lanka Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation Forum held at Colombo on May 8, Vietjet will operate four weekly flights from August. No exact launch date or flight schedule information was mentioned, but Vietjet stated passengers from Colombo will gain convenient connections via Vietjet’s network including cities in Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Dinh Viet Phuong, First Vice Chairman of Vietjet, said: “The Ho Chi Minh City – Colombo route opens a new air connection between the two countries, promoting cooperation corridors in trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange across South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.”
At present there are no direct air links between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Those traveling between the two countries currently have connecting options via Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Sinagpore.
