Vietjet will launch its new route to Prague, Czech Republic via Almaty on October 10.

The Vietnam-based budget carrier announced the launch of ticket sales for the new route which will operate twice weekly (Tuesday and Saturday) using Airbus A330 aircraft. The outbound flight will depart Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport at 0825H. Following a transit at Almaty, it will arrive at Prague at 1855H. The return flight will depart from Prague at 2055H, transit at Almaty, and arrive back at Noi Bai Airport at 1620H.

In a statement, Nguyen Thanh Son, CEO of Vietjet said: “This is an important milestone in Vietjet's strategy to become a global aviation group. With a new-generation fleet, modern technology, and a continuously expanding network, Vietjet will soon operate many more routes to Europe, enabling passengers to conveniently connect between Europe, Australia, and Asia-Pacific to destinations across Vietnam and Thailand.”

Jiri Pos, CEO of Prague Airport stated the new route will serve the market between Prague and Hanoi, which saw more than 75,000 people traveling between the two cities in 2025.

“The new connection will make travel easier for the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and their families. At the same time, we expect growth in tourism and greater accessibility of Vietnam for Czech travellers. Equally important is the strengthening of trade relations between the Czech Republic and Vietnam. Vietnam also represents a major gateway to Southeast Asia, and we anticipate that the route will also be used for cargo transport.”

First reported by the VnExpress back in March, Vietjet planned the Hanoi-Almaty-Prague route to be launched under Kazakhstan’s open skies regime. The route will use Fifth Freedom rights on the Almaty-Prague segment. Vietjet will be able to sell tickets to and carry passengers between Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic, along with the entire flight between Hanoi and Prague.
