Vietnam Airlines will take on 19 additional Boeing 737-8 (737 MAX 8) aircraft through lease from three aircraft leasing companies.
Vietnam Airlines will take on 19 additional Boeing 737-8 (737 MAX 8) aircraft through lease from three aircraft leasing companies.
The Vietnamese flag carrier announced the deals during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 with the three companies including SMBC Aviation Capital (SMBC), Phoenix Aviation Capital, and Avolon Aerospace Leasing Limited. The majority 10 737-8s will come from SMBC, 5 from Phoenix Aviation Capital, and 4 from Avolon. Deliveries are scheduled to take place in 2028.
“The investment marks another step in the airline's long-term fleet modernization strategy, strengthening network growth, improving operational efficiency, and meeting the increasing demand for air travel.”
With its previous orders for 50 737 MAX aircraft, Vietnam Airlines is expected to take on a total of 69 MAX. Deliveries for the 50 firm orders are expected to be delivered between 2030 and 2032.
