Hong Kong-based budget airline HK Express is rolling out a brand new inflight service system for ordering meals and drinks using your own device.
To access the new “Cabin Connect” system, passengers will be able to connect their own mobile devices to the designated onboard network. Once connected, passengers can place food and drink orders, secure retail items, track flight progress in real time, and upgrade their seats. Once an order is placed, the cabin crew will confirm the details, process the payment, and deliver the ordered item to the passenger’s seat.
Those seeking to upgrade their seat while inflight using Cabin Connect can request an upgrade to a front-row seat for extra legroom. Seat changes are subject to the availability of the preferred seats.
In a post on LinkedIn, HK Express stated: “More than a new onboard tool, Cabin Connect represents another step in our broader digital transformation journey, leveraging technology to enhance customer experience, unlock new opportunities for ancillary revenue growth, and empower travellers to personalize their journey according to their individual needs.”
