Jeju Air extends Incheon-Jeju route through October

Following what has been called a successful capture of transit traffic at Incheon International Airport, South Korean budget airline Jeju Air is extending its temporary service from Incheon to Jeju through October.

The twice weekly Incheon-Jeju service by Jeju Air will be extended another two months to October 24. During the extended operation period, the flight departure days will also be adjusted from the current Monday/Friday schedule to Tuesday/Saturday.

Boeing 737 aircraft including the -800 and the 737-8 (737 MAX 8) are used by Jeju Air on the route.

First launched on May 12, the airline has reported it served around 4,600 passengers on the route with an average load factor of 88.5%. Jeju Air also reported that foreign passengers accounted for around 30.6% of the passenger traffic (1,400 passengers) on the route which is three times the share of foreign passengers flying on the Gimpo-Jeju route (10%) during the same period. Chinese visitors made up the majority of the foreign passenger traffic with 330, followed by long-haul connections from the US (240) and Canada (70).

Incheon is currently Jeju Air's main international hub to/from Seoul, while Gimpo is the main domestic hub in the area. 

The Incheon-Jeju route was launched to improve the convenience for domestic travel within South Korea for foreign tourists from the country’s main international air hub. It is also aimed to help boost the tourism industry of the southern South Korean island of Jeju.

According to OAG’s report titled “The Busiest Flight Routes of 2025,” the Gimpo-Jeju route is the world’s busiest airline route in terms of seat capacity with 14.4 scheduled seats. Each day, seven airlines offer almost 39,000 seats on the short 240nm route to the popular South Korean resort destination.
