JAL to boost Japan-Taiwan flights for upcoming holiday season

As part of efforts to boost tourism in regional areas of Japan, Japan Airlines (JAL) will strengthen its services on its high-performing routes from Taipei. Services between Osaka Kansai and Taipei will resume for the first time in 2 years, and Japan Transocean Air’s (JTA) recently launched Naha (Okinawa)-Taipei route will continue during the upcoming winter season (Northern Winter 2026/2027).

During the holiday period from September through October, JAL will operate a total of 11 flights on select dates between Kansai and Taipei Taoyuan between September 18 and October 12. Using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the outbound flight JL8667 will depart Kansai at 0910H and arrive at Taipei Taoyuan at 1050H. The return flight JL8668 will depart Taoyuan at 1225H before arriving back at Kansai at 1605H.

The operational dates for the Kansai-Taipei Taoyuan flights will be on September 18, 20-22, 24, 25, 27, 28, and October 9, 11, and 12.

Between October 25 and March 27, 2027, JTA’s outbound flight on the Naha-Taipei Taoyuan route NU301 will depart at 0835H and arrive at Taipei at 0915H. The return flight NU302 will depart at 1015H before arriving back at Naha at 1250H.

JTA launched services on the Naha-Taipei route in February 2026. With Naha’s close proximity to Taipei, travelers from Taiwan can use Naha as an entry point to Japan and combine their trip with JAL Group’s domestic network to island-hop around the country.

The airline will also offer services on its current routes to Taipei Taoyuan from Tokyo Narita and Nagoya Chubu. In addition, JAL operates flights between Tokyo Haneda and Taipei Songshan Airport.

According to data from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan saw a 11.9% increase in visitor arrivals from Taiwan in 2025, welcoming around 6.8 million visitors from the island.
