The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is lowering the fuel surcharge for flight bookings during the last two weeks of May to Level 15.
Effective during the 15-day period between May 16 and 31, the fuel surcharge for flight bookings sold will be between PHP491 to PHP1436 for domestic flights. The fuel surcharge for international flights depending on distance will be PHP1,621.42 to PHP12,056.
The applicable exchange rate for the period of May 16-31 will increase from PHP60 to PHP61.18 to USD $1.
It is a drop by three levels from the current Level 18 effective May 1 through 16. At Level 18, the fuel surcharge is PHP 593 to PHP 1734 for domestic flights. The fuel surcharge will be PHP1,958.44 to PHP14,561.87 for international flights, depending on the distance.
Previously, the CAB raised
the fuel surcharge for the period of April 1-15 to from Level 4 to Level 8 in mid-March. Since then, the
fuel surcharge was raised to second highest level – Level
19 – in late April before dropping back down to Level
18 for the first two weeks of May.
The 15-day implementation period is a temporary measure to better respond to the ongoing fuel situation, temporarily suspending the application of Section 2 and 3 of Part II. General Provisions, and Timetable under CAB Resolution No. 25 (2022).
