Kansai International Airport recently reached a milestone of 600 million passengers served since its opening in 1994.
Kansai International Airport recently reached a milestone of 600 million passengers served since its opening in 1994.
Airport operator Kansai Airports announced the total includes international and domestic passengers served as of May 2026 at the world’s first artificial-island airport. Around two-thirds of the 600 million were international passengers which included 200 million Japanese and 190 million non-Japanese. The airport also recorded 190 million domestic passengers.
The data is based on the announcement by the Osaka Regional Immigration Bureau, Kansai Airport Branch.
“We are grateful to all our customers and will continue to strive to further enhance safety, security and comfort at the airport, taking this as a milestone.”
After the opening of Kansai International Airport in 1994, the cumulative number of passengers served at the airport reached 100 million in 2000, 200 million in November 2005, 300 million in June 2012, 400 million in March 2017, and 500 million in December 2022.

During FY2025, Kansai International Airport served around 33.55 million passenger.
