Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Air New Zealand have announced the expansion of their joint network between New Zealand and Singapore during the upcoming winter season (southern summer).
During the Northern Winter/Southern Summer 2026 season (October 25 to March 27, 2027), both Star Alliance member airlines will increase their overall capacity on flights between Singapore and Auckland. Air New Zealand will launch its new thrice-weekly non-stop service between Singapore and Christchurch on October 28 using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. With Singapore Airlines’ services on the Singapore-Christchurch route, the two airlines will operate 15 weekly flights on the route between November and February 2027.
On the Singapore-Auckland route, Air New Zealand will add a four weekly service which will use both Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. While Singapore Airlines will decrease its flights on same route from three daily to two, the Singaporean flag carrier will use its Airbus A380 on one of the daily flights (SQ285/SQ286) instead of the current Boeing 777-300ER. The 777-300ER will continue to be used on the other daily service (SQ281/SQ282).
According to both airlines, the increase in capacity on the two routes will support the demand for travel between New Zealand and Singapore, and key markets across Asia and Europe. Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand will increase the seat capacity between the two countries by 72,000 seats, which represents a 17% increase from late October. A total of 490,000 seats will be available in the market in the winter season.
