Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X to resume 11 international routes, increase flights to Japan, India, and Kazakhstan

AirAsia announced plans to resume 11 previously suspended international routes from Thailand by Thai AirAsia (FD) and long-haul arm Thai AirAsia X (XJ). The Thailand-based AirAsia subsidiaries will also increase flights to select cities in Japan, India, and Kazakhstan.

The route to be resumed were suspended during 3Q 2026 to align with travel demand and rising fuel costs, but will be back on the network in anticipation of the upcoming peak season in Q4 2026. The route resumption schedule is as follows:

Thai AirAsia X (XJ) from Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK):

- Sapporo (from October 1)

- Nagoya (October 2)

Thai AirAsia (FD):

From Don Mueang

- Kuala Lumpur (October 25)

- Gaya (October 25)

- Ahmedabad (November 6)

- Guwahati (November 16)

- Hyderabad (November 16)

- Lucknow (November 16)

- Jaipur (November 16)

From Phuket

Siem Reap (October 25)

The airline group stated at Thai AirAsia X will have a strong focus on direct flights from Don Mueang Airport to Japan during 4Q 2026 with up to 21 weekly flights to Tokyo and 14 weekly to Osaka. 4-times weekly flights will be operated to Sapporo upon the route’s resumption before 7-times weekly from December 1. 4 weekly flights will be operated to Nagoya.

Thai AirAsia X will also operate 4 weekly flights each to both Delhi and Almaty.

“We are highly confident that travel will be vibrant again this high season, driven by both Thais traveling abroad and international tourists visiting Thailand,” said Tansita Akrarttipirom, Head of Commercial, Thai AirAsia.“For the Indian market in particular, Thai AirAsia will resume operations on six temporarily suspended routes. Additionally, our Phuket hub will resume direct flights to Siem Reap, and the Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur route will also be reinstated. As international tourists arrive in Thailand, they can seamlessly connect to our extensive domestic network, which offers the widest coverage and highest flight frequencies in the country.”

The two Thailand-based AirAsia carriers will operate a combined 53 routes to 46 cities from Don Mueang Airport during the upcoming winter season.
